House of stories Guesthouse Sahanperä

This is not just a guesthouse. It is a place where stories returned. Built from the old bricks of a bank, raised on the historic land of Sahanperä — the birthplace of Rovaniemi — this house carries more than walls and rooms. It breathes memories, silence, and myths that never left.

Here, you don’t simply book a stay. You step into a living story guarded by Vanha Turi — the silent watcher at the foot of the stairs. Every room is more than a theme: it is an echo of Lapland’s oldest tales, waiting for those who still know how to listen.

rooms

Rooms that are not rooms — but stories.

Each room in Guesthouse Sahanperä is more than a space to sleep. They are born from Lapland’s oldest whispers — myths of the bear, the fox, the reindeer, the bird, the northern lights, and the people of the land. These are not decorations or themes. They are echoes of what has always been here, waiting to be heard again.

history

The story of Sahanperä

This house was not built like others. Its walls rose from the old bricks of a bank — bricks that had once listened to voices of power and quiet surrender. Even the stairs were carried here, the very steps where people once climbed toward authority and decisions. All of it was brought to Sahanperä — the historic ground where Rovaniemi first took shape, where the sawmill turned silence into livelihood, and silence into voices that carried dreams. When these old bricks and stairs touched this soil, something returned. The house did not simply stand. It began to breathe. And at the foot of those stairs appeared Vanha Turi, the silent guardian. Since then, each step has led not only upwards, but deeper — into stories that were waiting all along.

Step into a story

Not a tour.
Not a product.
But a world of its own —
where each moment is carefully chosen and wrapped in meaning.

Some stories can’t be bought. They must be lived — fully.

Some stories can’t be bought. They must be lived — fully. At Guesthouse Sahanperä, some of our most meaningful moments aren’t listed on booking platforms. They are quiet. Private. Sometimes unspoken. They are only available to those who choose to stay with us — who step into the story, not just pass by. Whether it’s a private visit from Santa, a silent evening in the kota, a reindeer whispering in the dark, or the deep hum of a handmade Lappish drum — these experiences are not available for sale. They come as part of your stay — hidden gems reserved for those who seek meaning, not mass. Check in. And unlock the rest of the story.
